Orange Kid: Hello and welcome to this debate between Chief Strong and Talah Rama. I received the informations on the debate but I was too busy working on a new and improved version of the Suporma to read them. Is there anybody that could tell me what the subject of the debate is?
Chief Strong: The subject of this debate is not just a subject for debate but a subject of major public concern. We will be discussing the actions and threat of an unlawful criminal known to many as "Ghost Everdred".
Talah Rama: But before we call him an "unlawful criminal", shouldn't we judge his spiritual values?
Chief Strong: You say spiritual values, I say criminal record. While his intentions may have been honest, every criminal must me treated similarly.
Talah Rama: You have a point but you neglect the fact that he is a spirit and not a human being. By definition, a criminal is a person. A ghost is not a person; therefore, Ghost Everdread should not be regarded as a criminal. That is, of course, unless you can prove that he is not a ghost.
Chief Strong: In extreme cases, those not of the human race have been persecuted. Scooby Doo was once fined for breaking the speed limit. However, if you want to play by those rules, I am sure it can be proven that he is not a ghost.
Talah Rama: Mister Orange Kid, could you tell us if it would be possible to prove whether Ghost Everdread is or is not a ghost?
Orange Kid: Well... I guess that if I took some time to do research and had some funding by the Onett police force, I could or maybe could not come to some sort of conclusions...
Chief Strong: Orange Kid, while we do appreciate the offer for assistance, we are simply too close to completing this case to bring in additional men. We have put in sufficient funding already. We have plans of every degree to capture this ghost as you call him. One such plan would require the laying of zombie paper, which one would assume works on ghosts as well. If he sticks, we let him go and let the undead police take care of it. If he doesn't, that man is ours. And just wait until Winters. Ghosts don't get sick, but I guarantee you that Everdred will.
Talah Rama: But will the population agree? Remember that the police force does not have a positive rating in the people's hearts. That operation will lead to more road block and even more hatred toward your men and you.
Chief Strong: The public is not a concern. If we are forced to do it, we will block people in their houses in order to complete this mission. The public doesn't have to like us, they never elected a single police officer.
Talah Rama: You are wrong at this point. You were chosen by Mister Pirkle... the Mayor. He was elected by the public. Don't forget that the mayor's opponent, Mister Minch, wants to replace you with his son.
Chief Strong: While Minch is the main opponent, he is not a serious one. Pirkle is sticking with us because the police department has never steered him wrong yet. Besides, one ghost shouldn't be the main concern of the public when Pirkle is busy solving the hospital crisis and other such affairs.
Talah Rama: I was only saying this because you can never be too careful with things that could affect the rest of your life…
Orange Kid: Please could you do stay on subject. From what I understood this debate is about Ghost Everdread and not Mr. Strong's career.
Talah Rama: I am sorry that you both can realize how related to the topic this is. Mister Strong only wants to make this arrest because he wants the people to think of him as a hero. That sure will help him when he'll run for mayor... Levitate is not the only psychic activity I can do, Mister Strong: I can also read minds and see the future. What I see is that you will ruin your career because you'll never find a ghost who decided to leave for another place. The road blocks will kill your chances, Mister Strong.
Chief Strong: You can see the future, well so can I. While putting the finishing touches on our plan, we ordered Dalaamese food. You know what the fortune cookie said? It told me "The evil spirits will haunt your dreams." Now, I just read this as "Catch that ghost or someone's going to end up dead." Besides, he'll still get a fair trial, ghost or not.
Orange Kid: It is now time for your final intervention. Chief Strong, since you opened the debate, you shall do your intervention now.
Chief Strong: Citizens of Onett..Neighboring cities..Neighboring countries, hear me out. This is not a ghost we speak of, but a mortal, manipulative man attempting to bend the will of the public to live his final years a free man. The police department is not a puppet to be puppeteered by anyone. We will catch this man because he undoubtedly poses a threat to our way of living and possibly more. Thank you, and thank Pirkle for his great support.
Talah Rama: Ladies and gentlemen of the audience, I want to show you this picture of a Tenda. The Tendas live in Tenda's village. What does this has to do with the current affair? Nothing! Would I waste my final time talking about Tendas if I didn't think that Ghost Everdread is dead AND innocent? I think not. So I leave the decision to you, the public. There will be a march in Fourside against the police force's actions against Ghost Everdred this Tuesday. Be sure to teleport there.
Orange Kid: This concludes this debate. Remember to fund my researches.
